Bengaluru: In a U-turn of sorts, Electronics City Police Inspector Nanjegowda S, speaking to News Trail, confessed that the recent news about K Dinesh Subba, 30, a native of Sikkim, who was attacked by the miscreants over the racially motivated move, was not true and the complainant assumed he was assaulted.

The Sikkim-based man who lodged a complaint that three bike-borne locals called him a "Chinese" and assaulted him is a completely different version from the investigation by the police, CK Baba, Deputy Commissioner of Police South-East division Bengaluru said on Saturday.

As reported, Subba, working as a waiter at a hotel in Electronics City, was subjected to assault while he was on his way home after throwing a party for his marriage anniversary.

He was assaulted by the miscreants around 3-4 am on Friday. While his brother Deepak Dorji made a complaint against the miscreants as they called Subba a Chinese national and attacked him even though he said he was an Indian.

The police official now denied the episode, and said nobody attacked Subba.

“He accidentally fell down the staircase to his house while he was trying to climb and got hurt. In a state of shock that he went into, the man assumed he was attacked by someone”, Inspector Nanjegowda told News Trail.

The inspector added that the truth was unveiled upon checking CCTV footage, but IPC cases registered based on complaints have not been withdrawn.

However, videos and photographs of the victim tell a different tale. In a viral video that sparked a row, the victim is seen with a bloodied face, indicating he was hit on his head and face.

A cop in uniform is also in the video, recording the victim, outside the closed shutter of a shop.

Deepak Dorji, the victim’s brother, contrary to his complaint at the Electronics City Police Station against the miscreants, said his brother was not assaulted.
