Bengaluru: The city police have taken up a case against a former BJP corporator for allegedly stabbing his own assistant before going incommunicado with his family.

According to a complaint filed at Magadi Road Police Station in Bengaluru, BTS Nagaraj, 57, a former corporator from the Binnypet ward, had a dispute with Babu, his long-time assistant.

On Sunday, Babu was discharged from the hospital after completion of his treatment for stab injuries.

He stated to the police that the incident took place on Friday night when Nagaraj called him near a club in Basaveshwaranagar for a settlement. As Babu reached the place, Nagaraj allegedly attacked and stabbed him with a push-button knife and fled from the spot.

Passers-by shifted Babu to KC General Hospital. It was revealed that Babu was working for the former BJP corporator for a long time and was looking after his businesses and finances.

An attempt-to-murder case has been registered against Nagaraj, who is said to be absconding from the city with his family. The police have formed teams to track his location.
