Bengaluru: Shreyas Uday Holkar is a young and certified Yoga Instructor. He learned his yoga skills from the well-known Akshar Power Yoga Academy.
He has been teaching yoga for over 6 years and has become wellknown in the yoga teaching world. Shreyas Holkar has organised a yoga retreat where people can come and learn yoga.
Around 25 people joined a recent free event at Cubbon Park. This was an important step towards his goal of having more of these kinds of events in the future.
Apart from the paid classes he offers, Shreyas also gives a free trial class to new students. This way, everyone gets the chance to try yoga and see its benefits.
Yoga: More than muscle building
Shreyas is really dedicated to making society healthier and happier. He lives in Kengeri, Bengaluru and is known for promoting good health.
He believes that many people do not pay enough attention to their health and do not know much about it. He doesn't agree with the idea that being fit only means having big muscles.
He said, “People often think that being fit means looking muscular and strong. While this is a good approach, it's not the whole picture. Many believe that working hard to build muscles will automatically make them fit and healthy. Unfortunately, yoga hasn't received the attention it deserves, and its benefits are not well understood by many.”
Instead, he thinks yoga is a great way to be truly healthy. He says that yoga doesn't just help your body, but also your mind and spirit. Shreyas wants to show people that yoga is not too hard or too simple.
He added, “This myth about yoga can be corrected by spreading the right information and awareness about yoga through spreading the right message.”
Nowadays, many people have health problems because they sit a lot, have bad habits, and feel stressed. He believes that doing yoga and living healthier can help with these problems.
When you have a calm mind, you feel better overall.
What's special about his way of teaching?
Shreyas likes to teach and practice yoga in nature as it gives the most peace and calm.
Shreyas believes that “being in nature helps us feel better and that using sunlight and fresh air makes us stronger. Being close to nature also makes us more aware of ourselves and more peaceful inside.”
The young yoga instructor also wants everyone to know that yoga can fit into any lifestyle.
He adds, “Even just 15 to 30 minutes of meditation, breathing, and simple asanas can make you feel more energetic and healthier. He wants people of all ages to learn yoga and feel better because of it.”
