Hindutva mob vandalises church, assaults Christians
New Delhi, NT Bureau: A group of approximately 20 individuals, loudly proclaiming "Jai Shri Ram" and advocating for India as a Hindu nation, engaged in an act of vandalism targeting a church and carried out physical assaults on members of the Christian community in Tahirpur, Delhi, on Sunday.
Pastor Satpal Bhati, in his complaint to the police, detailed that the assault occurred around 10:40 am during a prayer meeting.
As per the initial police report, the mob forcibly entered the church while chanting slogans and proceeded to physically attack Christians present, including women, using sticks.
According to FIR, the group also damaged images of Jesus and attempted to tear pages from the Bible. Subsequently, they dragged some men outside and subjected them to physical violence, Pastor Bhati stated.
A video shared by Democracy News India has revealed that musical instruments were also subjected to damage.
Members of the Christian community have alleged that drums were intentionally torn apart using a knife.
