Rs15 crore flood relief from Karnataka to Himachal

Bengaluru, NT Bureau: Chief Minister Siddaramaiah on Monday announced that he had contributed Rs 15 crore to Himachal Pradesh to help with the relief effort in the flood-hit Himalayan state.

The contribution was made from Kar nataka Chief Minister’s Relief Fund (CMRF).

“I would like to bring to your notice that Honourable Chief Minister of Karnataka State has ordered release of a donation to the tune of Rs15,00,00,000 to the flood hit state of Himachal Pradesh,” Secretary to Siddaramaiah N Jayaram wrote to Secretary to Himachal Pradesh CM Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu, Aapada Rahat Kosh.

More than 300 people have died in Himachal in addition to fatalities in neighbouring states. Torrential downpour caused by a fierce monsoon and a western disturbance have been cited as reasons for the flooding.
