AAP wants IBPS examination in Kannada

Bengaluru: The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) Karnataka unit on Monday demanded that the Institute for Banking Personnel Selection (IBPS) exams be conducted in Kannada as well.

Currently, the exams are only conducted in English and Hindi, putting those whose medium of instruction is Kannada or any other regional language at a disadvantage, the party argued.

“Why is the IBPS (Institute for Banking Personnel Selection) exam conducted by the central government only in Hindi or English? Won't Kannada and other speakers be deprived of opportunities?” AAP Vice President Ramesh Bellankonda asked.

“If Hindi native speakers in the country can take the exam in Hindi, why do Kannadigas and other native speakers of the country not have the choice of their own language? Why is there an imperative to write exams in their mother tongue and take exams in English?” he added.
