Bengaluru: Another Indian Administrative Services (IAS) officer was transferred by the State government on Wednesday. Commissioner of Food Safety and Standard Authority (FSSA), Public Health Institute (PHI) Shamla Iqbal was transferred and posted as Secretary of Horticulture and Sericulture Department, replacing Mohan Raj who has been transferred without charge.

Shamla had been suspended for alleged corruption back in April 2012 by the then BJP State government.

However, the proceedings initiated against her by the state Lokayukta had been quashed by the Karnataka High Court in October 2015.

She had been accused of possessing disproportionate assets and accepting a bribe in return for a contract for the supply of nutritional food granted under the Integrated Child Development Scheme (ICDS).
