Hate crime? Teacher instigates students to slap 'Muslim' classmate

Muzaffarnagar: A video of an eightyear-old schoolboy being slapped by his classmates on the directions of their teacher went viral on social media on Friday as cops registered a suo motu case after neglecting to do the same initially.

The incident occurred at Neha Public School in Khubbapur village in Muzaffarnagar district, which comes under Mansoorpur Police Station limits.

Many social media users held it was a 'hate crime' since the teacher Tripta Tyagi is heard saying she encouraged the thrashing of “Mohammadan” (Muslim) children as the child is heard sobbing after being struck by three Hindu classmates.

The video appears to be shot by an unnamed third party who encourages the beating of the student. When the video went viral, the teacher apologised before cops at the police station.

The child’s father Irshad agreed on a “compromise” and gave a statement that he would not pursue the case legally.
