Saujanya rape case: Hindu activist Thimarodi stokes controversy, says justice not sought from 'mad dogs'

Bengaluru: Seeking a reinvestigation into the case of Saujanya rape, which shook the State eleven years ago, a Hindu activist Mahesh Shetty Thimarodi led a huge protest in Kundapur, where he made a controversial remark that he was seeking justice from the lord Manjunatha and not from “stray mad dogs”.

“We are seeking justice from Lord Manjunath, not from some stray mad dogs”, he said while addressing the protesters.

A large number of people gathered to protest against the rape of Saujanya. The remark assumes significance as it comes days after Home Minister Dr G Parameshwara said there will not be reinvestigations in the case.

He said the government had nothing to do with the issue as the case had been already closed. He also added that the government has no proposal to open the case again and put an end to the speculations.

Soujanya was a PUC student in Ujire of Dakshina Kannada district and was found dead in the Nethravathi River on October 9, 2012.

An autopsy revealed that she was raped and murdered.
