No ‘operation’, JD(S), BJP MLAs approached us: Saleem Ahmed

Dakshina Kannada: Karnataka Pradesh Congress Committee (KPCC) worki ng president Sa leem Ahmed has claimed that there was no such thing as Operation Hasta but rather Opposition MLAs had of their own volition sought to join the Grand Old Party.

He made the remarks to mediapersons during his visit to the Congress office in Mangaluru city.

“We won’t indulge in ‘operations’ like 'Operation Lotus'. We have a simple majority with 136 MLAs to provide the state with a strong and stable government for the next five years. Several leaders from the BJP and JD(S) approached us. The High Command will take a call on who should be allowed to join the party,” Saleem said.

He said that the Congress had set a target of 20 seats for next year’s Lok Sabha elections in Karnataka.

He added that the party would special attention to constituencies like Dakshina Kannada and Udupi-Chikkamagaluru since they were BJP strongholds.
