Somashekar will take ‘suitable decision’: Shivakumar
Bengaluru, NT Bureau: Deputy Chief Minister DK Shivakumar has dropped another hint that BJP MLA from Yeshwantpur ST Somashekar will rejoin the Congress while urging him to take a suitable decision.
He said that Somashekar and he had been friends for 35 years, likening him to a plant that he had tended to, which had grown into a tree but the fruit had been snatched by others, referring to the July 2019 Operation Kamala in which BJP had engineered the defection of 17 MLAs from Congress and JD(S), toppling the coalition government.
“Somashekar has been in the news a lot lately. You sit and decide. Our government will last five years. You are intelligent. I know you will take a suitable decision,” Shivakumar said, adding that even though Yeshwantpur had brought a BJP MLA to power, the Congress government would resolve the segment’s problems.
On the day, he also participated in the laying of the foundation stone for the construction of a lithium-ion cells and batteries manufacturing unit in Chamarajanagar.
