Bengaluru: A young woman from Kerala was allegedly killed by her boyfriend who allegedly hit her on the head with a pressure cooker after suspecting her of having an affair with another person.
The incident took place at a rented house in New Mico Layout where the two were living together in Bengaluru.
The deceased was identified as Padma Devi, 24, while the accused was identified as Vaishnav, a native of Kollam. It was revealed that the two were working for a private marketing firm in Bengaluru for the last three years and were staying in New Mico Layout for over two-and-a-half years.
It was also learnt that the two had studied in the same college and were in love with each other since then. Recently, the accused had allegedly observed that the deceased had been going out with other male friends and suspected her of having an affair.
According to the statement from the neighbours, the two were often found arguing over trivial matters.
Around 3:30 pm on Saturday, a violent argument started between the two during which an enraged accused took a pressure cooker and hit the woman on her head.
As the woman collapsed on the floor, the terrified accused managed to flee from the spot. The Begur Police was alerted about the incident in the evening.
Following an inspection, the police sent the body for a post-mortem analysis. On Sunday, the police tracked and nabbed the absconding accused and took him into custody. The body was handed over to the relatives of the deceased later in the day.
