Woman who fell from BMTC bus in June succumbs to injuries
Bengaluru, NT Bureau: In a tragic turn of events, Shivamma, a 57-year-old resident of Mandya, who suffered injuries after falling from a BMTC bus on June 6 has succumbed at Victoria Hospital.
The victim had come to Bengaluru from her hometown. She got down at Satellite Bus Stand. She got into a parked BMTC bus on Platform No 1 and asked passengers in it if the bus would go to Mudalapalya.
When the passengers replied in the negative, Shivamma wanted to get down through the middle door when the driver set the vehicle in motion. Shivamma lost her balance, fell and came under the wheels of the bus and her left leg got crushed. She was rushed to a hospital.
The driver initially agreed to bear the medical expenses, but later refused, following which Shivamma’s son Ravikumar filed a complaint with the Kengeri traffic police.

On June 12, charges were levied against the BMTC driver under sections 279 and 338.
