Bengaluru: In yet another tragic incident, a 15-year-old girl ended her life by jumping off the 12th floor of her apartment building in the Bellandur Police Station limits on Tuesday.
The deceased was identified by the police as Jessica, a Class 10 student. However, the reason for her extreme step could not yet be ascertained.
According to sources, Jessica's parents hail from TN and had settled down in Bengaluru. The family resides on the 11th floor of a luxurious apartment in Bellandur, which they have been occupying over the last two years.
It has been revealed that her father is a software engineer while her mother is a private school teacher. At 10.20 am on Tuesday, the girl went up to the 12th floor, above her flat, and allegedly jumped to her death.
There was no one at home when the incident took place. Her parents were away at work, sources added. The police were alerted about the incident immediately, and a spot inspection was carried out by the cops.
Deputy Commissioner of Police, Whitefield, Girish S said the reason for the young girl ending her life is still unclear. "Her father is a software engineer and mother, a teacher. The girl went to school in the morning and returned home early. The teacher called her mother and informed her that she had not attended classes on the day," he said.
It is learnt that Jessica was not attending school properly and had attended classes for only six days in the last three months.
"The Bellandur police have registered a case and taken up further investigation," the DCP added.
