HC allows actor Ganesh to go ahead with construction of farm house

Bengaluru, NT Bureau: The High Court of Karnataka on Friday in an interim order allowed Sandalwood actor Ganesh to go ahead with the construction of his farmhouse in Jakkalli, Hangala Hobli close to the Bandipur Tiger Reserve.

Justice Krishna S Dixit however made it clear that it would be subject to the final outcome of the petition that has challenged the permanent construction in an environmentally sensitive zone.

If the petition is decided against the actor, he will be ordered to bring down the structure the HC said.

Ganesh had approached the High Court challenging the notice issued to him by the Forest Department, objecting to the proposed construction of a building in the village which comes under Gundlupet Taluk in Chamarajnagar District.

The notice to Ganesh had said that only temporary dwellings could be constructed in the zone and concrete structures were being erected and sought his explanation.

In an earlier hearing on August 21 the HC had directed Ganesh to reply to the notice within a week and the forest department to conduct a review and complete the inquiry within a week after that.
