Man stabbed to death for confronting stalker
A minor girl's father was murdered in the city when he confronted her harasser and asked him not to trouble her.
The incident took place on Saturday night in the Ashok Nagar Police Station limits and the deceased was identified as Anwar Hussain, 42, a goods-carrier vehicle driver.
The police said that Hussain used to reside near Nanjappa Circle in Bengaluru.
Following a probe, it was revealed that a youth, Zahed, who was working at an electricals shop in the area, used to harass the 15-year-old daughter of the deceased demanding her to accept his love proposal, police added.
Stressed by the harassment, the girl had told her father about it after which Hussain confronted and warned Zahed to stay away from his daughter.
However, despite the warning, the accused continued to follow and tease the girl which angered Hussain. Around 9:30 pm on Saturday, Hussain went to Zahed's house in Shanthinagar and spoke to Zahed's parents before warning the youth again.
A friend of Zahed, identified as Anwar, tried to intervene in the matter and picked up a fight with Hussain, sources added.
Enraged during the arguments, the accused took a knife from his kitchen and stabbed Hussain multiple times on his neck before fleeing from the spot. Hussain collapsed and was immediately taken to a nearby hospital where he died without responding to the treatment.
The jurisdictional police inspected the crime scene and took Zahed's brother into custody for questioning. A murder case has been registered and search is on for the accused who is currently absconding.
