Guarantees promoted at award ceremony!
Bengaluru, NT Bureau: Congress appears to have found a surprising platform to promote its five guarantees as Chief Minister Siddaramaiah on Sunday attended the Colours Kannada ‘Anubandha Awards’ ceremony wherein the guarantees were hailed as a boon.
The CM arrived at the awards ceremony with much fanfare and then witnessed a video tribute to the five guarantees.
The five guarantees include Gruha Jyoti Yojane which promises under 200 units of electricity to every household, Gruha Lakshmi Yojane under which Rs 2,000 would be wired every month to “woman head of every household” and revival of the Anna Bhagya scheme that promises 10 kgs of rice monthly to Below Poverty Line (BPL) card holders.
The other two guarantees are free government bus travel for women under the Shakti scheme and Yuva Nidhi Yojana, which promises Rs 3,000 monthly allowance for unemployed graduates and Rs 1,500 for diploma holders belonging to the 2022- 23 academic year.
The latter is the only guarantee that hasn’t been implemented and is slated for either December or January.
Shakti and Gruha Lakshmi Yojane in particular were hailed as game changers vis a vis women’s empowerment. On the occasion, Siddaramaiah met an elderly woman named Sangavva from Sangoli village of Bailhongal taluk in Belagavi district.
She had hitched a government bus ride for free on June 11, the day of the launch of the Shakti scheme.
