
Tiger kills boy in Mysuru district
Bengaluru, NT Bureau: An eight-year-old boy was mauled to death by a tiger in Kalahatti village in HD Kote taluk in Mysuru district on Monday.
The village comes under the Metikuppe Wildlife Range under the Nagarhole National Park limits. The incident took place when the victim Charan Nayak had accompanied his parents Krishna and Madubai to a field where the couple was picking chilies.
The boy was spending time with his parents because his school had declared a holiday on account of a sports tournament.
When the boy had been playing in the fields around noon, a tiger pounced on him and dragged him into a nearby bush.
Upon hearing Charan's screams, the parents of the boy arrived on the scene and chased away the tiger. However, the victim’s injuries were so serious that he succumbed.
Villagers staged a protest against the Forest Department, holding them responsible for the attack on the boy and their livestock.
