Minister Zameer suspends Taluk extension officer for non-maintenance of city hostel

Dakshina Kannada: Zameer Ahmed Khan, the Minister for Housing, Minority Welfare, and Wakf, suspended a Taluk Extension Officer for non-maintenance of a boy’s hostel in Dakshina Kannada district.

The minister issued the suspension order after visiting the hostel, which accommodates students from minority communities pursuing post-matriculation studies.

According to reports, the impromptu visit came during the minister’s visit to Dakshina Kannada.

He found the hostel was not properly maintained and lacked hygiene, especially when it came to toilets. However, the students at the hostel also registered their complaints regarding the poor quality of food.

They complained that they are not being provided chicken every week but only once in two weeks. The students also alleged that the daily food preparation did not adhere to the planned food chart.

Further, it was alleged that they haven’t received bed sheets and pillows in the last five years.

Besides serving the officer with the suspension order, the minister also sent notices to the Dakshina Kannada District Minorities Welfare Officer Jinendra and hostel warden Ashok in connection with the matter.

Minister Rahim Khan and Chief Minister’s Political Secretary Naseer Ahmed were also present.
