Sanath on the ascent
S Shyam Prasad | NT
Bengaluru: Actor Sanath, who made his debut in the horror film Kamarottu Checkpost returns with a romantic film in his next.
Olave Mandara 2 is not the sequel to the earlier film directed by Jayateertha. The new film is directed by SR Patil and is set to hit the screens on September 2. Sanath speaks to S Shyam Prasad about the film and his budding career.
Q: What are your expectations from this movie?
A: My career is still at the nascent stage and this romantic movie holds a special place in my heart, and I believe it has the potential to captivate audiences and leave a lasting impact.
I expect "Olave Mandara 2" to delve even deeper into the emotions and intricacies of the characters' relationships. The earlier set had a strong foundation, and I hope this film with the same name will take it to the next level, making the audience feel every emotion along with the characters.
Music plays a significant role in any romantic film. Memorable songs can often become a part of the audience's lives.
Q: After starting with a horror film, you are following up with a romance film. But there has been a considerable gap.
A: Indeed, there has been a considerable gap between my two films. This transition from one genre to another may appear unconventional, but it's a deliberate choice driven by my passion for diverse storytelling and a desire to explore different facets of my acting abilities.
This gap allowed me to take a break, recharge, and prepare meticulously for my role in "Olave Mandara 2." The contrast between horror and romance genres is stark, but as an actor, I relish the challenge of adapting to different roles and genres.
It's an opportunity to showcase versatility and connect with audiences on various emotional levels.
Q: Is it not a big burden to have the film named Olave Mandara 2 even if it isn't a sequel.
A: Naming a film with a number typically implies a continuation of the story from a previous instalment, which can create certain expectations among the audience.
As an actor involved in the project, my focus is on delivering a compelling performance and helping to create a memorable cinematic experience for the audience, regardless of the title chosen for the film.
But we have done justice for the title and it’s a pure love story carried with moral to the parents and for the young generation
Q: Is this film similar to Olave Mandara in any way?
A: "Olave Mandara 2" may share certain thematic elements or elements of style with the original "Olave Mandara" film, but it's important to clarify that it is not a direct sequel or continuation of the same story.
While both films may fall under the romance genre, they are separate and distinct narratives with their own unique characters, plotlines, and settings.
Q: Are you happy with the way your career is shaping up?
A: There have been up and down throughout the journey as I am not from a family involved in films. We are just an ordinary middle class family.
It’s my mother's dream to see me in films and I am giving my best and I believe in hard work and dedication. I leave the rest to God.
Q: What's coming next?
A. Chi Tu Yuvakara Sangha is directed by Shivu Ramanagara and produced by Chethan Raj. I am looking forward to this family comedy after Olave Mandara 2.
