Bengaluru: Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah on Sunday heaped praise on the Sunni Students Federation (SSF), adding that their trackrecord has been “without blemish”.
He made the comments during a convention at the Palace Grounds in Bengaluru on Sunday.
“SSF should work to uphold the unity, integrity and the constitution of the country,” Siddaramaiah said, adding that the students in the organisation should aid the country’s push toward development.
The CM cited religious figures with a humanist bent such as Buddha, Basavanna and Sufi saints, apart from icons such as BR Ambedkar and poet Kuvempu, adding that they were examples of why India was a tolerant society.
Indian Grand Mufti Sheikh Abu Bakr presided over the function. Dignitaries including Deputy CM DK Shivakumar, Speaker of the Assembly UT Khader and minister Zameer Ahmed were present at the event.
