Congress' battle within: Hariprasad gets notice

NT Correspondent

Bengaluru: In a surprising turn of events, the Congress party has issued a show cause notice to one of its senior leaders, B.K Hariprasad.

Hariprasad is a MLC and is also a Permanent Invitee to the Congress Working Committee(CWC). The notice was issued citing breach of party discipline, specifically concerning his public criticism of Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah and his sharing of a platform with leaders from the BJP and YSR Congress Party at a Backward Class conference held in Bengaluru on September 9.

The complaint pertaining to Hariprasad's actions was brought to the attention of the Congress President, leading to the commencement of disciplinary proceedings.

Consequently, the matter was referred to the Disciplinary Action Committee, which has now resolved to issue a show cause notice to B.K Hariprasad.

He is expected to provide an explanation for his behaviour within a prescribed timeframe of 10 days. This development follows Chief Minister Siddaramaiah's expression of concern regarding the criticism directed at him by Hariprasad.

Siddaramaiah has urged the central leadership to take appropriate action against Hariprasad, who belongs to the backward Ediga community.

The Congress party's response underscores its commitment to upholding party discipline and preserving unity while addressing internal matters with transparency and fairness.
