CCB arrest 34 people for peddling drugs

Bengaluru: In a major crackdown, the Anti-Narcotics Wing of the Central Crime Branch (CCB) arrested 34 accused including a foreign national for allegedly peddling drugs in the city.
Following the operation, the CCB claimed to have seized drug items worth more than Rs 2.42 cr. Continuing their drive against drugs, the CCB sleuths who have been monitoring suspicious activities around the premises of popular colleges and IT companies in Bengaluru, had registered 24 cases in connection with drug peddling.
A raid was carried out simultaneously at different areas of Bengaluru including Whitefield, Varthur, Cottonpet, Mico Layout, RT Nagar, Bommanahalli, Kengeri, Chamarajpet, Baiyappanahalli, Ramamurthy Nagar, Kodigehalli, KR Puram, Parappana Agrahara, Girinagar, Hennur, Kothanur, Yelahanka, Marathahalli, Hulimavu and JJ Nagar following which 34 accused were arrested.
The persons arrested include 15 people from Kerala, 10 from Karnataka, four natives of Bihar, two from Odisha, one from Assam, Haryana, and one foreign national from Nigeria, police told News Trail on Tuesday.
Following the arrest, the CCB officials seized 37.9 kgs of ganja, 167.56 grams of MDMA crystal, 70 LSD strips, 620 ecstasy pills, 495 grams of Charas, 84 grams of hydro-ganja, 72.5 grams of cocaine, 1.2 kg Hashish oil, 30 mobile phones and five two-wheelers from the accused persons.
Cases have been registered against the accused under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act, of 1985 and further investigation is underway.
