Kolar: On Tuesday noon, a middle-aged person in Nambihalli village, Srinivasapur taluk, fatally attacked two individuals.
The victims have been identified as Radhamma (32) and her father, Muniyappa (62). The alleged perpetrator, Nagesh (40), has been apprehended by the Srinivapur police.
It was revealed that Nagesh and Radhamma had married approximately seven years ago and had a child together. However, their relationship soured five years ago, leading to their separation.
Nagesh subsequently lived with another spouse in Srinivasapur. During their divorce proceedings, the court had ordered Nagesh to pay a monthly maintenance of Rs. 8000 to Radhamma. Despite Nagesh's insistence, Radhamma refused to withdraw the case.
Armed with a machete, Nagesh confronted Radhamma near her residence in Nambihalli, resulting in a heated argument and a violent assault on her head with the machete.
When Radhamma's father, Muniyappa, tried to intervene, he too was attacked by Nagesh, injuring two other family members in the process, police said. Radhamma succumbed to her severe head injuries on the spot, while Muniyappa passed away at the hospital.
The two other injured family members are currently recovering. As villagers gathered at the scene of the incident, Nagesh attempted to flee. However, the community detained him and confined him to an adjacent vacant house.
Subsequently, the police arrived at the location and arrested Nagesh. The Srinivasapur police are conducting further investigations into the matter.
