Pro-Kannada activists stage protests against water release to TN
Bengaluru, NT Bureau: Under the leadership of Kannada Chaluvali leader Vatal Nagaraj, Pro-Kannada activists organised a demonstration opposing the release of Cauvery water to the neighbouring state of Tamil Nadu.
The protesters blocked the Bengaluru and Hosur Highway near Attibele, vigorously expressing their dissent against Tamil Nadu Chief Minister MK Stalin.
The protest received support from the ProKannada outfit Kannada Jagrithi Vedike, with the State President of Kannada Jagrithi Vedike, Manjunath Dev, actively participating alongside Vatal Nagaraj near Attibele.
Subsequently, due to the traffic disruption on the Bengaluru-Hosur Highway, law enforcement officials took Vatal Nagaraj and other protesters into custody.
A separate demonstration was conducted near the toll gate on the Bengaluru-Mysuru highway in Ramanagara, again opposing the release of Cauvery water to Tamil Nadu. In response to the traffic disruption in the area, the police took the protestors into custody.
Additionally Pro-Kannada outfits organised a protest in Mysuru against the Cauvery Water Management Authority's order to release Cauvery water to Tamil Nadu for the next 15 days.
This protest was staged in front of the District Administration office in Mysuru, where the demonstrators criticised the Tamil Nadu government for demanding water from Karnataka during periods of drought.
