Bengaluru: Like the capital city, Bengaluru, residents of Mysuru too are facing the brunt of bad roads and pothole ridden stretches.
So Team Mysuru, a twitter group has decided to take on the authorities of Mysuru City Corporation (MCC) over potholed roads and on Sunday, launched an online campaign requesting Mysureans to share pictures of bad roads in their respective areas to bring it to the notice of MCC authorities.
Team Mysuru is a group of 40 persons belonging to various walks of life who are active on social media on issues pertaining to Mysuru. Key members of Team Mysuru are Gokul Govardhan, Yeshwanth, Yathish, Nischith and Manjunatha. Many people participated in the online campaign and shared pictures and videos of bad roads across the city.
Yathish told News Trail: “Our focus is on improving basic facilities in Mysuru. Apart from this, we are into social activities. During the Covid-19 pandemic, our members pooled money and distributed grocery kits among affected families. All of us are from different fields but we are united when it comes to issues concerning Mysuru”.
He said citizens have been experiencing bad roads for many days due to unseasonal rains, bad maintenance and digging up of roads by various agencies to provide water and electricity connections. The response to the twitter campaign has been overwhelming and they have many pictures and videos of bad roads in Namma Mysuru, he said.
Yathish said they have shared pictures and videos with Mysuru- Kodagu MP Pratap Simha, MLAs S.A. Ramdas, G.T. Deve Gowda, L.Nagendra, Tanveer Sait and Yathindra Siddaramaiah, commissioner of MCC, Deputy Commissioner and others.
“We have also shared the pictures with Chief Minister Basavaraj Bommai in the hope that he will direct the MCC to take up at least repairs of all potholed roads let alone asphalting them”, he added.
