Hampi Utsav postponed due to drought-like situation
Bengaluru, NT Bureau: Keeping in view the drought-like conditions in the state, Hampi Utsav has been postponed to February, the State government disclosed on Wednesday.
Vijayanagara district in-charge minister Zameer Ahmed made the revelation. Hampi is a settlement associated with the medieval Vijayanagara empire and falls in the Vijayanagara district.
The decision was taken at a meeting presided by Chief Minister Siddaramaiah and Zameer at the Vidhana Soudha.
The meeting acknowledged that most of the taluks in many districts including Vijayanagar and Ballari were reeling under drought;it was very difficult to hold the festival.
