'We the people': 2 cr recite preamble

Bengaluru: The state government disclosed that more than two crore people registered to participate in the recitation of the preamble of the Constitution on the International Day of Democracy.

The Department of Information and Public Relations (DIPR) disclosed that 2,31,66,401 people had registered to say the words in unison on Friday.

As many as 2,504 participants were expatriate workers and students from 84 nations including Australia, US, Canada, Saudi Arabia, Netherlands, Spain, Sweden, Germany, Taiwan and Italy, among others.

Moreover, 507 districts from India also witnessed registrations. The event also witnessed “10,000 physically present citizens” at the Vidhana Soudha in a programme organized by the Social Welfare Department.

Chief Minister Siddaramaiah and his Cabinet colleagues were present.
