Kolar: Stringent action will be taken against a headmistress, Ms Hema Latha, who has been accused of hitting a girl student wth a stick, after getting a full report from the block education officer, KGF, Mr Krishna Murthy, said the deputy director for public instruction for Kolar on Friday.

The headmistress of the Government school at Alikallu village under KGF limits allegedly punished the girl for creating a Ganesha idol from clay.

The victim, a student of class seven, suffered a mild fracture following the incident and is being treated at a public health centre.

There are also allegations that Hema Latha's husband who works as a warden in the hostel, gets rotten vegetables for the midday meals meant for students.

Many of the students have reportedly stopped eating the supplied food and it is said that one student who questioned the meal quality was sent out of the school.
