BMRCL boosts passenger comfort with additional escalator

Bengaluru: In response to passenger concerns and the increasing crowd at Baiyappanahalli Metro station, the Bengaluru Metro Rail Corporation Limited (BMRCL) has taken action by installing an additional escalator.
This initiative aims to improve passenger flow within the station, especially in anticipation of the eagerly awaited inauguration of the extended Purple Line metro route, connecting Challaghatta to Whitefield, which has generated significant interest among Bangalore residents.
Addressing passenger concerns
Recognising the inadequacy of the initial escalator capacity at Baiyappanahalli Metro Station to handle the growing number of passengers, BMRCL officials have taken proactive measures.
With the BaiyappanahalliKrishnarajpur (KR Puram) metro link set to open soon, bringing an expected surge in passenger numbers, the newly installed escalator is expected to alleviate congestion issues and significantly improve the overall commuting experience for metro users.
Delay in safety inspection
The scheduled safety inspection of the Baiyappanahalli-KR Pura metro section, spanning 2.1 kilometres and crucially connecting Whitefield to Bangalore's Central Business District (CBD), has faced a setback.
Initially planned for September 13, the inspection was postponed on Tuesday night. The Commissioner of Metro Railway Safety (CMRS) is responsible for conducting this critical examination to ensure the secure operation of the metro line from Benniganahalli to Baiyappanahalli.
This delay may have implications for the anticipated opening of this essential transportation link for city commuters.
