Veteran director Sai Prakash to act in 'Bhagiratha'

Bengaluru: Veteran director Sai Prakash who has the record of directing over 100 films, will be acting in a prominent role in the upcoming film Bhagiratha.

Though he has donned the greasepaint before including playing the titular character in a film on Sai Baba, he has not been seen on screen for many years now.

"Anytime is good for a comeback. It is on the insistence of director Ram Janaradhan that I agreed to act again. I do not consider myself an actor. Even the audience knows me as a director. But this role of a swamiji was very intriguing and I could not say no," he said.

The muhurat ceremony of the film produced by K. Ramesh and B. Bhairappa of Sai Ramesh Productions, was held at the Bande Mahakali temple.

The clapboard for the first shot was held by the veteran Sai Prakash, adding to the significance of the day. Leading the charge behind the camera, renowned cameraman Rajesh Rajaghatta oversaw the first shot.

Actor Jayaprakash, known for his previous roles in films like "Jamana," expressed his delight at being part of the "Bhagiratha" project. He revealed his transition from a supporting role in "Jamana" to the lead role in this film.

Chandana Rajaghatta, plays a pivotal role in the film as a journalist. Director Ram Janardhan, who has previously directed several projects, including "Baayi Friend," expressed his enthusiasm for "Bhagirath."

He stated that he is determined to make a memorable film and is fully committed to the project. He acknowledged the connection between the film's title and its narrative.

With veteran director Sai Prakash leading the way and an ensemble cast featuring Jayaprakash, Chandana, Sudha Belawadi, Shivraj K.R. Pet, Ravi Kale, Balu Rajawadi, Suresh, Surabhi Ravi, Nayan, and Nikhith, "Bhagiratha" promises to be an exciting venture.

The film also boasts the musical talents of Pradeep Varma and the cinematography skills of Suri Chittoor, while Ravi Chandra has worked on the screenplay and Thriller Manju is directing the action sequences.
