BMTC to launch new mobile app for real-time bus tracking, ticketing
NT Correspondent
Bengaluru: After several failed attempts with the “Namma BMTC” app, the Bengaluru Metropolitan Transport Corporation (BMTC) has yet again come up with a new promise to unveil a special mobile app to track the buses alongside the introduction of 25 new bus routes in the city.
Sources from BMTC said the app is designed to offer passengers convenient access to BMTC services via their smartphones. Users will gain access to bus schedules, enabling them to track bus locations across various routes.
Created in celebration of BMTC's Silver Jubilee, this app will provide real-time bus schedules, bus locations on different routes, and information about nearby bus stands and stops. It will also offer insights into station facilities and TTMC details.
Additionally, the app will assist passengers in locating the nearest bus stops and stands based on their current location, enhancing overall convenience.
BMTC officials are considering the incorporation of a ticket purchase feature, akin to airline booking apps. This feature would enable online payment of bus fares and the specification of boarding and alighting points, streamlining the ticketing process.
The introduction of eticketing via the mobile app is expected to save passengers time and eliminate the need for onboard ticket transactions.
Furthermore, it is anticipated to reduce the administrative workload for BMTC staff, prompting active exploration of its implementation within the app.
