Bengaluru: In a tragic accident, two bike-borne men were killed on the spot after their speeding sports bike went out of control and crashed into an electric pole near RMC Yard in Yeshwanthpur Traffic Police Station limits in the wee hours of Friday.

The police identified the deceased as Manmohan, 31, and Nikhil, 25. Preliminary inspection revealed that both the men were driving in an inebriated state.

It was learnt that Manmohan resided near Banashankari while his friend Nikhil was a resident of Sanjaynagar RMV 2nd stage. It was also revealed that Nikhil was an MBA student and the son of the Vice Chancellor of a private University in Bengaluru.

Sources said that the two had gone out for a ride after celebrating Nikhil's birthday at his residence along with family and friends at midnight. The two had been to MG Road to meet their friends and were returning back around 3:30 am when the incident took place.

An official from the jurisdictional traffic police said that the duo were drunk. "Due to overspeeding, they lost control over the vehicle and collided with a pole. The impact was so intense that both were thrown into the air and died on the spot due to severe head injuries. They were not wearing helmets," the police said.

Following inspection, the bodies were shifted to the MS Ramaiah hospital in Bengaluru.
