ASRTU committee holds 265th meeting in Mysuru

Mysuru: The 265th meeting of the Association of State Road Transport Undertakings (ASRTU) Standing Committee (S&C) was convened in Mysuru on Tuesday.

The ASRTU, the apex coordinating body representing all State Road Transport Undertakings in India, operates under the Ministry of Road Transport, Government of India.

With a membership of 72 SRTUs, collectively overseeing around 1,47,000 buses, ASRTU plays a crucial role in facilitating its member SRTUs through common procurement platforms and establishing Rate Contracts with reputable manufacturers for automobile spares, oils, lubricants, and tyre materials.

The primary function of the Standing Committee is to invite tenders, establish rate contracts, and define terms and conditions, streamlining spare parts procurement for member SRTUs.

Notable attendees included V Anbukkumar, IAS, Chairman of the Standing Committee, along with M Sundaresh Babu, IAS, Director (P&V), KSRTC, and RRK Kishore, Director (Technical), ASRTU, New Delhi, accompanied by Chief Mechanical Engineers and Controllers of Stores and Purchases from various State Transport Undertakings.
