Massive traffic jam as B'luru residents make best of long holiday

Bengaluru: Ahead of the holiday on Thursday, Friday's bandh and the weekend followed by the Gandhi Jayanti holiday, city residents rushed to make the best of the long break, moving out for a vacation leading to a massive traffic jam on the Outer Ring Road (ORR).

Stuck on the roads, some citizens took to social media to vent their anger. A netizen posted that he was stuck in traffic for over two hours trying to cross Marathahalli from Whitefield.

He claimed that people on buses started walking on roads because of the traffic jam. In response, the traffic police asked commuters to avoid trying to rush out all at once.

"It's a huge jam due to the large number of vehicles," Deputy Commissioner of Traffic, East Bengaluru, Kuldeep Kumar Jain, said.

"Huge Traffic pile-up on ORR from Marathahalli to Sarjapur. Check the Traffic outside before stepping out of your office," the DCP said.
