Won’t release a drop from KRS, says Shivakumar
Bengaluru, NT Bureau: Deputy Chief Minister and Minister for Water Resources DK Shivakumar on Wednesday said that Karnataka would not release “even a single drop of Cauvery water” of the 3,000 cusecs (cubic feet per second) that they had been asked to.
He was referring to the Cauvery Water Regulatory Committee (CWRC) order on Tuesday recommending that Karnataka release 3,0000 cusecs of Cauvery water to Tamil Nadu.
“Of the 3,000 cusecs of water, not even a single drop would be released from the Krishna Raja Sagar (KRS) Dam for any reason,” Shivakumar told mediapersons.
He added that 2,000 cusecs was being released on a daily basis and that 1,000 cusecs is an amount they could make “alternative arrangements” for. He made the comments at the KPCC office in Bengaluru on Wednesday.
