Elderly man done to death

Kolar, NT Bureau: An elderly man who objected to another man urinating in public near a vegetable shop, was done to death at Gownipalli village Tuesday night.

The deceased has been identified as Venkatarayappa(55) a vegetable vendor, while the accused is Shankarappa(40), a driver by profession.

When the weekly market at the village was coming to a close at around 8.30 in the evening on Tuesday, Venkatarayappa noticed Shankarappa urinating near his shop.

Venkatarayappa reportedly objected to this and a verbal duel began between the two. However onlookers pacified both of them and they went back to their houses.

Later, Shankarappa, reportedly in an inebriated condition went near Venkatarayappa’s house and a fight ensued with his son.

When Venkatarayappa intervened, Shankarappa allegedly punched him on the chest. He collapsed and died on the way to hospital.
