BBMP to launch city cleanliness drive to mark Gandhi Jayanti
Bengaluru, NT Bureau: In commemoration of the 154th Birth Anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi, the Bruhat Bengaluru Mahanagar Palike (BBMP) has unveiled a city-wide cleanliness initiative titled "Ek Tareekh, Ek Ghanta-Shramadan For Swachata," The BBMP in its notification on Wednesday said that the initiative aligns with the Swachh Survekshan-2023 protocol and involves comprehensive cleanliness drives at a minimum of two locations in each ward.
The primary objective is to transform Bengaluru into a cleaner and greener city while raising awareness among citizens about maintaining their surroundings.
The programme includes the remediation of waste dumps, debris, and blackspots near various locations, such as water bodies, garbage vulnerable points, railway tracks, roadsides, slums, marketplaces, and more.
Scheduled for October 1, at 10 am, this initiative requests active participation from NGOs, SHGs, NSS or NCC cadets, RWAs, volunteers, and the general public.
Citizens can select events from the SWACHHTA-HISEVA web portal (https:// swachhatahiseva.com/), which includes a map of designated locations.
