Final phase nears for BMRCL's Pink Line

Bengaluru, NT Bureau: The highly anticipated Pink line of the Bengaluru Metro is now in its concluding phase, with nearly 85% of the tunnelling work already accomplished out of the targeted 20.991 kilometres, amounting to 17.93 kilometres.

This 21.26-kilometre Pink Line encompasses a 13.76-kilometre underground section and a 7.5-kilometre elevated section, boasting a total of 18 stations, of which 12 are underground.

The Bangalore Metro Rail Corporation Limited (BMRCL) aims to wrap up all civil and track-laying activities for the Pink Line by the second half of 2024. Among the underground stations, progress exceeds 50% completion at stations like Langford Town, Shivaji Nagar, Cantonment, Pottery Town, Tannery Road, Venkateshpura, and Nagavara.

However, Lakkasandra metro station remains below the 50% mark. Currently, three Tunnel Boring Machines (TBMs) named Rudra, Tunga, and Bhadra are actively at work, having already tunnelled approximately 1,911 meters out of 3,090 meters.

The TBMs are expected to complete the remaining 40% of tunnelling work by March of the next year.
