
Kannada film industry extends support to Cauvery protest

Bengaluru: Kannada actors Shiva Raj Kumar, Upendra, Darshan Thoogudeepa, Vijay Raghavendra, Sri Murali, Sadu Kokila, Umashree, Pooja Gandhi, Dhruva Sarja, Komal and several other artists staged a protest in front the Karnataka Film Chamber office (KFCC) in support of the Cauvery protest.
Kichcha Sudeep who was in Mahabalipuram shooting for his film Kichcha 46 and Ravi Chandran who is on a US tour were the other notable absentees at the protest.
Theatres across the state have cancelled shows till evening on Friday, as the Karnataka Film Exhibitors Association has declared its solidarity with the bandh.
KV Chandrasekhara, the association’s president, said, “We have opted to keep all cinema halls closed until the evening, and evening shows will proceed as scheduled.”
