Kengeri -Challaghatta metro line given CMRS nod for operation

Bengaluru, NT Bureau: The Commissioner of Metro Rail Safety(CMRS) has given the green light for commercial operations on the KengeriChallaghatta stretch of the Purple line.

This stretch, which is located at the western end of the purple line, underwent inspection on Friday, September 29th, the same day Karnataka Bandh was observed.

On September 25, the CMRS also gave the green light to the much talked KR Puram- Baiyappanahalli stretch of the purple line. However, dates for operations are yet to be announced.

If both the stretches of the Purple line are to be operational, then the Purple line would be 43km long, connecting the east-west corridor of the city.

The daily ridership, after the purple line is entirely opened, would be expected to cross 7 lakh, from its current average of 6.3 lakh.
