
Person arrested for stealing valuables from his relatives

Bengaluru: The city police nabbed a person who had allegedly broken into the house of his relative and fled with valuables worth Rs 1.10 crore, in the city.
The victim, Shah Nawaz, a scrap dealer and a resident of SRK Garden in Bengaluru had recently filed a complaint at the Tilak Nagar Police Station after he found his house burgled and valuables including gold ornaments and cash stolen.
Following an investigation, the police nabbed Mohammed Rafiq, a 30-yearold relative and neighbour of the victim.
According to police, Rafiq had been planning to break into the house of the victim for the past three months and had managed to obtain a duplicate key to the house from a key maker. Police said Rafiq had taken loans from multiple apps, and found it difficult to repay.
On September 23, the victims' family was in Ramanagara attending a wedding. However when they returned after two days, they found the jewelry and cash missing from the house.
The gold and the money had been meant for the wedding of the daughter of the family.
At a press conference on Tuesday, Bengaluru Police Commissioner, B Dayananda, said, "The accused conducted the burglary in order to repay the loans he had taken from apps. He was a close relative of the victim’s family and had managed to obtain a duplicate key for the house. He was aware of his relatives keeping cash and jewelry at home,” he said.
It was alleged that the accused had stolen 2.5 kg gold ornaments and 10 lakh in cash from the victim's house.
The police The police have recovered gold jewelry weighing 1.8 kg worth Rs 1.16 crore, besides cash to the tune of Rs 74,000, and a two-wheeler from the accused.
