Green line services of Namma Metro disrupted after rail-cum-road vehicle stuck on track

Bengaluru: On the day when thousands of travellers are coming back to the city from the "long weekend," The Bangalore Metro Rail Corporation Limited (BMRCL) encountered an unfortunate incident during a mandatory test with a rail-cum-road vehicle jammed on the track at Rajaji Nagar metro station on Tuesday.

In a post on X (previously Twitter), the BMRCL informed that trains would run only between Nagasandra and Yeshwantpur and Mantri Square-Sampige Road to Silk Institute.

This was on short notice, commuters say. The Yeshwantpur metro station wore a crowded look with disgruntled commuters, due to the interruption of services. To reduce the inconvenience caused by the RRV, the BMRCL brought singleline operations between Yeshwantpur and Mantri Square, but with half-anhour intervals for the arrival of trains.

After failing to remove the jammed RRV with another RRV, the officials hired a crane which successfully removed the jammed vehicle on track. Services resumed at normal timings at 3:40 pm.

COMMUTERS FACE THE BRUNT

The travellers who have come back after a long weekend were welcomed with bad news, with the disruption of services in Namma Metro's Green Line.

A commuter who boarded the train from Mahalakshmi to Nagasandra complained that the trains moved at a "snail's pace."

"Because of the heavy crowd, many people couldn't board the train. Other sections of the Green Line seem to be affected by this," they said.

Commuters were also disappointed by the communication provided by the BMRCL, One took it to X and explained how the commuters were not intimidated the same, even in the security checks.

"We were surprised," the post added. Officials from the Bangalore Metropolitan Transport Corporation (BMRCL) ensured that additional buses were deployed between Yeshwantpur and Majestic Metro/railway station, in the period of disruption.
