IT raids on businesses on tax evasion suspicion

Bengaluru: In a major operation, the Income Tax (IT) officials conducted simultaneous raids at over 15 locations across the city on Wednesday.

According to the sources, around 15 IT officials raided offices and residential buildings at places including Vijayanagar, BTM Layout, Hulimavu, Sadashivnagar, and Sankey Tank in Bengaluru.

The raids were carried out on businesses and the owners suspected of tax evasion. Among the businesses that were raided was real estate company Puravankara Limited.

Around 40 premises of the company in multiple cities including Bengaluru, Hyderabad and Mumbai were raided simultaneously. Further, Gajaraja Jewellers on Palace Road was subjected to an IT raid, with officials arriving in two Innova cars to inspect the premises.

Another place was the residence of the owner of Ganesh Jewellery in Sadashivanagar, where approximately 15 individuals arrived in two Innova cars to scrutinize the records.
