8 passengers trying to smuggle liquor, cigarettes and devices arrested by customs at KIA

Bengaluru: The Customs officials at the Kempegowda International Airport (KIA) caught eight passengers trying to carry used laptops, mobile phones, liquor bottles and foreign brand cigarettes illegally into the city.

Bengaluru Air Customs officials said that based on Advanced Passenger Information System (APIS) profiling, seven passengers coming from Sharjah to Bengaluru via flight G9-496 were found carrying three used laptops, 15 used mobile phones, four liquor bottles and 1000 cigarettes.

"A total of 21 laptops, 75 phones, 28 liquor bottles, 7000 cigarettes (ESSEE LIGHTS) were recovered and seized from the passengers. The officials also caught a woman passenger carrying three bags filled with 49,600 ITC brand cigarettes. The officials said that the woman had also landed into the city from the same flight.
