Another rapido driver accused of sexual harassment

Bengaluru: A 20-year-old woman has lodged a complaint of sexual harassment against a Rapido bike-taxi rider after the man allegedly engaged in inappropriate behaviour.

According to the complaint, the rider touched the woman inappropriately during the ride which began from a college and ended near the woman’s apartment on September 30.

The woman said she availed the bike around 5:30 pm and in the next 20 minutes, the rider deviated from the route and persistently pried into her personal life, questioning her about her name, occupation and place of origin.

Upon reaching her destination, the woman requested a payment scanner. Instead, the man provided a mobile number, urging her to conduct an online transfer.

Rapido in its statement to the media said, "Upon receiving the recent complaint, we initiated a comprehensive investigation and took decisive action by permanently suspending the involved rider.''
