Bengaluru: A person was arrested by Chandra Layout Police after he stabbed a 28-year-old man suspecting him to be a thief.

The incident took place at an under construction building in Bapuji Layout in Bengaluru on Wednesday night. The police identified the deceased as Khadir Ahmed.

The victim succumbed to his injury at a private hospital in the wee hours of Thursday, sources said. On Wednesday evening, Khadir along with his friend was found strolling near the premises of an under-construction building and after some time, the duo allegedly entered the building.

In no time, house owner Rajendra Prasad surfaced and questioned their presence on his property. The workers at the site had complained to the owner that earlier two men had made away with items kept in the building.

Based on this suspicion, Rajendra Prasad accused the two men of theft. This enraged Khadir’s friend who attacked Rajendra with a knife in his possession.

Rajendra managed to escape the attack and snatched the knife from him. Meanwhile, Khadir tried to intervene and rescue his friend from the clutches of Rajendra but ended up getting stabbed. Rajendra rushed Khadir to a private hospital where he succumbed to his injuries.

Chandra Layout Police have registered an FIR under IPC section 304.
