
Traffic cop killed in bike accident

Bengaluru: A traffic head constable was killed on the spot after a head-on collision between two bikes near Sulur on the National Highway (NH 75) Nelamangala-Kunigal Road on Thursday night.
The deceased was identified as Srinivas, 46, a resident of Kamalanagar in Bengaluru. It was learned that he was attached to the Upparpet Traffic Police Station in the city.
Following an inspection, cops said that the incident had taken place around 10 pm on the Service Road of the Bengaluru-Hassan highway.
The police said that due to the impact, Srinivas sustained severe injuries and died on the spot. However, the other person involved in the accident escaped with minor injuries and fled from the spot.
The jurisdictional police from Kudur shifted the body to Nelamangala Government Hospital for post-mortem analysis.
A case has been registered at Kudur police station against the accused and efforts are on to track and nab the escaped rider, police said.
