Cong demands BJP X account be suspended, files plaint

Bengaluru: Karnataka Congress submitted a formal complaint demanding that the BJP’s official account on the microblogging site X (previously Twitter) be suspended and that suitable action be taken against them for allegedly defaming Grand Old Party MP Rahul Gandhi.

Congress staged a protest over the same at Freedom Park in Bengaluru on Saturday. The complaint was submitted to the cyber cell of the Halasuru Gate Police Station by Karnataka Pradesh Congress Committee (KPCC) General Secretary Y Puttaraju, who reckoned that the saffron party’s social media posts on Gandhi constituted defamation.

The BJP account had likened Rahul Gandhi to Ravan, the antagonist of the epic Ramayana. The saffron party had photoshopped the Congress leader’s face to the ten-headed figure of Ravan.

“The new age Ravan is here. He is Evil. Anti-Dharma. AntiRam. His aim is to destroy Bharat,” BJP had posted and then pinned the same to their profile.
