CM inaugurates new buses, employee welfare measures for KSRTC

Bengaluru: The Chief Minister of Karnataka inaugurated new buses and employee welfare measures for the Karnataka State Road Transport Corporation (KSRTC).

The new bus models include Karnataka Sarige buses, AC Sleeper buses, and non-AC Sleeper buses. KSRTC also introduced a new design for point-to-point buses, with 10 such buses being launched on the same day.

Speaking at the inauguration event, the Chief Minister said that KSRTC is playing a vital role in connecting people and places across the state. He also appreciated KSRTC for its employee welfare measures and for launching new bus models that will provide better services to the public.

The Chief Minister also said that the government is committed to supporting KSRTC and to helping it provide better services to the public. The inauguration event was also attended by other dignitaries, including the Deputy Chief Minister, Transport and Muzrai Minister, union leaders, and officers/staff of KSRTC.

In addition to the new bus models, the Chief Minister also announced a new employee welfare measure called "Saarige Vidya Chethana".

This scheme provides scholarships to fund the education of employees' children under Vidya Sahaya Nidhi. For the years 2022-23 and 2023-24, a scholarship amount of Rs.55 lakh has been disbursed to 1093 applicants and the process is in progress. KSRTC has also introduced a Rs.1.00 crore unique accident insurance relief scheme for its employees.

This scheme is the first of its kind among state transport undertakings in India.

What is new in KSRTC

  • Karnataka Sarige buses are designed for long-distance travel and are equipped with comfortable seats, leg space, and other amenities.
  • AC Sleeper buses are equipped with AC sleepers, which provide a comfortable and relaxing travel experience to passengers.
  • Non-AC Sleeper buses (PALLAKKI) are equipped with nonAC sleepers and are designed for budgetconscious travellers.
  • Prototype point-topoint buses have a new design with more leg space, wider windows, and a more attractive front view.
